मौलाना उमर गौतम यूपी के फतेहपुर के रहने वाले हैं वे पहले ग़ैर मुस्लिम थे, उन्होंने इस्लाम धर्म अपनाया और फिर Islamic Dawah Centre शुरू कर दिया। आज उन्हें यूपीएटीएस ने धर्म परिवर्तन कराने के आरोप में जेल भेजा है। धर्म परिवर्तन करना अपराध नहीं हां बलात धर्मपरिवर्तन कराना अपराध है।
अब यूपीएटीएस ने आईएसआई से फण्डिंग की ‘कहानी’ गढ़कर मौलाना उमर गौतम और मौलाना जहांगीर को गिरफ्तार कर जेल भेज दिया है। धर्म का प्रचार, प्रसार करना अपने धर्म की शिक्षाओं का दूसरे धर्म के लोगों में प्रचार प्रसार करना, उन्हें अपना धर्म स्वीकार करने के लिए आमंत्रित करना क़ानूनी अपराध नहीं है।
लेकिन फिलवक्त जो माहौल है उसमें अबसे पहले ईसाई मिशनरी सरकार और एक विचारधारा विशेष के लोगों के निशाने पर थीं, अब Islamic Dawah Centre चलाने वाले मुस्लिम धर्म गुरु भी निशाने पर आ गए हैं। मौलाना उमर गौतम को गिरफ्तार कर जेल में डालने वाली सत्ता शायद इससे अनजान है कि जेल में दीन की दावत देना बाहरी दुनिया के मुक़ाबले ज्यादा आसान है।
