Teak wood is quite expensive, so it is better to have some knowledge beforehand. Here are a few ways to identify a teak tree
Color – Color varies with species. Premium quality teak (often called Burmese teak and rosewood) is golden-brown in color, fading as quality declines. A normal teak may be yellowish white in color.
Note- Another important point to be considered while buying teak is the dyeing made by furniture makers. Therefore, even if the teak color appears darker, it does not mean that it will be of the highest quality.
Grains – The most easily identifiable trait may be grains. The grains are usually straight but may be wavy depending on the saw pattern.
Fragrance – Teak wood has a natural oil content that helps prevent termites and rot. The oil has a distinctive aroma and smells like leather.
