Pearl V Puri, who starred in shows like Nagin and Bepanna Pyar, has been arrested by Mumbai police for raping and harassing a minor.

Mumbai: TV actor Pearl Puri was arrested by Mumbai police on Friday in connection with the rape of a 5-year-old girl. Vasai Sessions Judge Aditi Kadam on Saturday remanded him in judicial custody for 14 days.

The allegation was made on a film set in Vasai while Pearl was shooting in October 2019. The victim and her mother, a television actor, were also on the sets. The minor mother came to know about the incident after the girl complained that she had pain in her abdomen. Her father, who worked with Puri, lodged a complaint at the Versova police station. The matter was transferred to the Valiv police and after investigation, it was revealed that Puri had a role in the incident. DCP, Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar (MBVV) commissioner Sanjay Kumar Patil said he was called to the Valiv police station on Friday and arrested.

Puri was arrested under sections 4,8,12,19, 21 of the IPC 376A (rape of a woman under 12), Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act 2012.
