Anjana Om Kashyap was born on 12 June 1975 in Ranchi, Bihar (now Jharkhand), India. She was born in a middle class family of Omprakash Tiwari in Ranchi. Her father was a doctor on a short stint in the Indian Army and served during the Bangladesh Liberation War.
She did her initial schooling at Loreto Convent, a local Catholic school, and then Delhi Public School, Ranchi. She went on to study botany at Delhi University. Kashyap appeared for the All India Pre-Medical Test but failed. She was a prolific debater and displayed strong leadership skills from childhood as she became the principal of both schools and the president of her college.
After a few years, she enrolled at the Delhi School of Social Work, where she completed her post-graduate studies. Kashyap reports that the curriculum and field visits instilled in her a spirit of public activism.
Kashyap’s first job was as a consultant at Daewoo Motors; however, she resigned soon after a year. She then joined an NGO as a legal advisor.
Anjana Om Kashyap is an Indian news anchor who works with Hindi news channel Aaj Tak as Senior Executive Editor. Kashyap started her journalism career by joining public broadcaster Doordarshan before moving to Zee News. She then went to News 24 before settling in Aaj Tak.
