Inspiring Quotes of Islam for not celebrating birthday
Do not celebrate the birthday of our Prophet (pbuh). The truth is that his actual date of birth is unknown just as the date of birth of Prophet Jesus (pbuh) is unknown. Evidence from the Qur’aan and Sunnah shows that celebrating birthdays is a kind of bid’ah or something new in religion, which has no basis in pure sharee’ah. It is not permissible to accept invitations to celebrate a birthday, as this includes sponsoring and promoting bid’ah. Allaah, may He be glorified and exalted, says (interpretation of meaning):
“Or have they allied themselves with Allaah (false gods) who invented a religion that Allaah did not allow…?” [al-Shoora 42:21]
“After that We have set you (O Muhammad) in the clear form of (Our) command. So follow that, and do not follow the desires of those who do not know me. Certainly, it will not help you at all to resist Allaah (if He wants to touch you). Indeed, the zaalimoon (evildoers) are awliyaa
’(protectors, helpers, etc.) to each other, but Allaah is the Wali (Protector, Helper) of the muttaqoon (saints).” [al-Jaathiyah 45: 18-19]
“Follow what is sent to you from your Lord, and do not follow any awliyaa’ (protectors, helpers, etc.) without Him. You still remember a little! ”[Al-A’raaf 7: 3]
According to saheeh reports, the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said:
”(Reported by a Muslim in his Saheeh); and “The best of speech is the Book of Allaah and the best of guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). The worst things are the newly invented (religious), and everything new deviates. ”There are many other hadiths that convey the same meaning.
Apart from being bid’ah and baseless in sharee’ah, these birthday celebrations also include imitating Jews and Christians in their birthday celebrations. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said, warning us to follow their ways and customs: “You will follow the paths of those who come before you step by step, until they enter the abyss, you will enter it. “They said:” O Messenger of Allaah, do you mean Jews and Christians? ” He said, “Who else?”
(Reported by al-Bukhaari and Muslim). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) also said: “He who imitates the nation is one of them.”
